Diyu is the underworld in Chinese mythology, which souls are taken to after death to atone for the sins they committed when they're still alive.

There's a myth about every soul has to go through the gates of hell, pass through the bridge of no return, and to drink the Mengpo soup so that they will forget everything in the current lives and prepare for reincarnation.
